    Panola Orchard and Gardens
We have been blessed with plenty of rainfall and cold weather this winter. This is exactly what we need this time of year. So far everything is looking great! Looking forward to a wonderful 2019 harvest season! The first crop to ripen is strawberries, which should be ready early April.

We have several schools who come on 2-3 separate days. The reason we like to keep it no more than 50 students is so that the parents can ride on the same wagon trailer as their child. We can accommodate more than 50 students, but most parents would have to ride on a separate wagon trailer. Our big wagon trailer holds about 70 people. Any extras would have to ride a separate wagon trailer and they would not hear the info I present on the way to the field.
    9 weeks ago 1
Kim Metcalf Ross looks like fun! Since we have about 100 students, we’d have to do two separate trips though.

We should be able to fit 65 students and a few teachers on our wagon trailer.
9 weeks ago Panola Orchard and Gardens
Most schools who have more than 50 students come on 2-3 different days in order to get everyone in. The reason for a max of 50 students is to be able to get all students, teachers, and chaperones on the same wagon trailer. I ride the wagon trailer and tell info about the different crops we have, etc on our way to the strawberry field. We can accommodate more than 50 students for a field trip BUT most parents would need to ride a separate wagon trailer to the field and they would not hear the info I present on the way to the field.

Well nevermind says maximum of 50 kids

Is there a particular type of strawberry plant that does best in our area? Which plant do you recommend? Would like to plant a couple for our 8 year old to see how it grows. We enjoy your farm and products.
15 weeks ago Panola Orchard and Gardens
Our favorite varieties are Camarosa and Chandler. They have to be planted in October in order to be ready by spring.
15 weeks ago Panola Orchard and Gardens
Blueberries need to be planted during the winter. Make sure to plant rabbiteye type ....there are several varieties that are rabbiteye. Many times nurseries around here sell types that will not grow in this area....for example, northern high bush will not grow here. So, you have to careful where you buy from.

Really love your Orchard!! Was able to come out many times this year and in many occasions bring a different Grandson with me to help pick. 😊. So good for kids to see where their food comes from and taste real fresh fruit. Ty so much for this opportunity to share this with my Grandsons. ❀️. Everything was delicious, as usual. See you next year. I’m checking to see if I have room for the blueberries. 😊
